These paintings are about spontaneity and movement. Layers of bold colors are quickly applied and then motifs are carved out using markers. Similarly to how I work with abstract lettering motifs, thinking in terms of writing but moving into the abstract, here I tend to think of the motifs as faces, then moving freely within that idea.
