This music was recorded back in the 1980s but was never released at the time. Tellef Kvifte, one of the musicians and the publisher at Taragot Sounds, wanted to release it now because he felt it could help shed light on this period in folk music, which was marked by a tension between the national romantic and the progressive.
Tellef took a photo during the recording session that was already intended to be the album cover. This photo set the tone for the design. In addition, there was a lot of text and quite a few other images that needed to be included in the design. I created a grid-based layout and worked to create interesting tensions and rhythms between the elements. Considering the large amount of content, I also aimed to evoke a sense of calm in the overall composition.
